
The 19th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress voted to pass the newly revised Foreign Trade Law on December 27, which will come into effect on March 1, 2026. The newly revised Foreign Trade Law consists of 11 chapters and 83 articles. The new law adds provisions that foreign trade work should promote the construction of a trading power. The state maintains a fair and just international economic and trade order. The state encourages the conduct of international trade in services in various forms. The state supports trade promotion platforms in enhancing their functions and service levels. The new law strengthens the provisions related to promoting foreign trade, adding provisions for the state to promote the construction of a cross-border financial service system, promote international mutual recognition of digital certificates, electronic signatures, etc., enhance the digitalization and facilitation level of foreign trade, promote the construction of product standards, certification and labeling systems related to green trade, and support and promote the construction of foreign trade talent teams.
